The Swords of Iron non-profit for soldiers, which was formed at the beginning of the Swords of Iron war, sees great importance in raising awareness of the challenges faced by reservists and members of the security forces, in the process of returning home, and the difficulties involved in their reintegration to the family and society.

“Wandering Weeds” is a student film by the creator Yair Weller (pilot for the series) that was released in early 2018, three years after he returned from Operation Tzuk Eitan. The film tells the story of three reservists a year after the operation in their attempt to return to the routine of life. The memories and dealing with trauma shows the viewer how everyone carries a different traumatic burden on their back, and presents a wide range of the phenomenon. The film won the outstanding pilot award of South Cinema, and the outstanding director award at the ITVfest festival held in Vermont.

As part of Swords of Iron activities, we support the reservists in their process of dealing with the return to normalcy, and the shocks of battle, with the help of the following projects:

Project “To Breath”
For soldiers who returned after fighting and were exposed to difficult sights, and find it difficult to return to routine, to work, to family. This is a powerful 5-day journey in Greece. Clear air, spectacular views, an experience designed for venting and release, this is a journey that allows participants to breathe, be filled with good energy, and return to life more balanced. A dedicated team is on site to embrace those who need mental support, loving company and peace of mind.
